IRB Law Ruling 3:2010

Doubt about grounding Law 22.15

Scenario

Team A kick the ball into their opponents in goal. Both a player from Team A and Team B dive for the ball. The referee refers to the TMO for decision of try or no try and also if any foul play has occurred. On viewing the evidence the TMO advises no foul play has occurred and that it is inconclusive as to who last plays the ball as the ball is in the air when both players go for it. RFU Clarification to Referees on Postponing Matches

Under the IRB Laws of the Game, if either team has objections about the ground they must tell the referee before the match starts. The referee must not start the match if he believes that the pitch is unfit to play and therefore potentially dangerous. Read More »

IRB Law Ruling 9:2009

The ruling states that, once a team position a receiver at the lineout, that player cannot enter the lineout until it commences.  In Law, this is defined as when the ball leaves the hands of the player throwing in the ball.
